so alou and ramirez booked flights back to the DR before game 7 in 2003?

That had to be the biggest revelation in the whole documentary on the Bartman game. Hands down. If youre a pivotal piece of a potential championship winning squad, how the fuck are you gonna pack it in with another chance to advance to the world series??? I will never understand that. Completely mindblowing. I've stood by ramirez since the day he came to the cubs and I've thought for years now that he's been the most important and most underrated hitter the cubs have had, except for D Lee's near triple crown season. Alou I couldnt care less about. Always got a bad rap for sticking his hands in buckets of his own urine to toughen those suckers up, but hey, to each his own. But the fact that two of the three best hitters on the team essentially said fuck it before what should have been the biggest game of their playing careers speaks volumes about their character and the mentality that they brought to a team and a city desperate to see a baseball winner. Really too bad. Feel completely different about seeing Ramirez gone after this season now.

The stuff on Bartman wasnt anything new. Recycled footage, but the ESPN writer had some cool stuff and the dude in the button down was the most practical person they talked to. Basically said, "fuck yeah if it wasnt Bartman I'd be the one put in witness protection instead of that headphone wearing dweeb. I tried to grab the shit out of that ball." On the other hand you had douchebag author/lawyer on the highest of all horses proclaiming to the world that Bartman is the scum of the earth and that he would never in a million years touched the ball if he were in the same position. Get the fuck out of here man. Not only are you full of shit but youre perpetuating the misery of a guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Any Cubs fan who says they still blame Steve Bartman for that collapse is neither rational nor sane. Gonzalez fucked up the double play ball. Prior sucked dick and gave up liner after liner after liner. They had a WHOLE FUCKING GAME to play and somehow game 7 gets disregarded because its easier. Its cheap and it makes other people feel better about themselves. Im pretty sure its people outside of Cubs fans who assume we still blame a turtleneck wearing dork for the 11 innings of baseball that followed after that play.

Anyway, it shouldnt take 2 championships, like it did with the Red Sox and Buckner, to realize that it wasnt Bartman's fault. Prior makes his pitches, Gonzalez doesnt boot a tailor made DP, steve bartman is livin the good life right now and not under his fourth alias designated to him by the FBI. Im just glad that wasnt me.

Of course ESPN had to throw in the gratuitous 30 minutes of Red Sox footage as required by law.
